Product featured: Google Cloud Search
The latest from G Suite: Every day, people around the world rely on the power of Google Search to access information. In fact, we see more than a trillion searches every year. As we continue to invest in new cloud-based technologies like machine learning to power our web search engine, we want to help businesses leverage that same technology to find internal information. What's new in G Suite
In February, we announced Google Cloud SearchA new product that uses smart search to provide a better experience through G Suite.
Internal information classification has become increasingly complex as more and more companies move their workloads and data to the cloud. As a result, teams are working in hybrid environments and storing vast amounts of data everywhere and in various formats, including emails, documents, spreadsheets, slides, forms, websites, and much more.
Smart searches tailored to your needs.

For example, when you open the Cloud Search app on your mobile phone or computer, you'll see relevant information organized into simple cards that help you stay on top of your work. These attendance cards are the new way to help you find the right information at the right time. Using Google's smart search, these cards can help you prepare for your next meeting or included suggest you files that necesitan tu Attention.

Go directly to the conversation with unread messages; we redesigned Hangout's indicators.
News: In Google Hangouts for desktop and Android, we've implemented some improvements to how you navigate chats. When you enter a conversation with a lot of activity, you'll see a "Go to last read" button. This will take you to the last unread message in that conversation, indicated by a #newmessages indicator.
In addition, the “# new messages” button has been redesigned to match the new user interface.
Take a look at the following screenshot to see how it works:

Ready for business.
Resolve conflicting accounts with the new transfer tool for users with unmanaged accounts.
What's New: If your organization recently started using G Suite
And, it is possible that there are employees who previously set up personal Google accounts using their company's domain name; with this release, we have made it easier to identify and transfer those accounts before they become problematic.
With the new Transfer tool for unmanaged users, you can view all personal Google accounts with email addresses that match the G Suite email addresses for your organization.
You can then send messages to those users, requesting that they convert their personal accounts to G Suite accounts for your organization. You can also view the requests and cancel them when necessary.
If an employee accepts your request to transfer their account, you will be given access to their data and the ability to manage that account. If they decline or ignore your request, they will be asked to rename their personal account with a different email address when a new G Suite account is created for them. They will retain sole access and control over all the data in their personal account.
Please note that these actions must be performed manually, and while you can send, cancel, and download request statuses for multiple users at once, you cannot yet do this in bulk via an API. We hope this release makes the transition to G Suite easier for you and your end users.

New Administrator privilege, to manage custom templates in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms.
What's New: In November 2016, we introduced custom templates in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms, allowing teams to spend less time formatting and more time brainstorming, collaborating, and sharing ideas. We also offered G Suite Business, Education, and Enterprise customers the following optional controls in the admin console:
- Moderate: It requires that user-submitted templates be approved by administrators with Drive and Docs administrator privileges.
- Restricted: Restricts sending templates to administrators with the Drive and Docs administrator privilege.
With this release, it's no longer necessary to grant full Drive and Docs privileges to admins who want the ability to moderate and manage templates. Instead, you can grant admins a new Docs templates privilege, which gives them the ability to approve templates and modify template settings in the admin console, but not the authority to change other settings in Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms. Admins will retain the privilege to continue managing templates in Drive and Docs.
This change will allow your organization to manage custom templates in a scalable way, without giving up sensitive admin settings.
For more details on privileges and instructions for managing templates in Docs, visit our help center articles below.

Improvements to two-step phone verification.
Improved Phone Prompts for Two-Step Verification What's New: In June 2016, we introduced phone prompts for two-step verification, giving users another way to keep their accounts secure. With this release, users who have opted in to receive notifications will see additional details about the login request, such as when and where it was made, when they are available. These improved prompts appear on both Android and iOS devices.
Consult the Help Center for more information about the instructions on the two-step verification phone.

Preview of password-protected files in Google Drive.
What's New: We know you work with a variety of file formats in Google Drive. That's why, with this release, we've made it possible to preview documents, presentations, and spreadsheets in Google Drive.
Now, when you try to open one of these file types in Drive on the web, you'll be prompted to enter your password. Upon successful entry, you'll see a read-only preview of the document. Note that this feature also works when you open password-protected Office files sent as Gmail attachments.
Google now maintains a central G Suite service with administration console controls and access in Google Docs.
News: Available to G Suite users with Google Drive since 2013, Google Keep helps employees capture thoughts, ideas, action items, and more in one easily accessible place. With this release, Google Keep is now a core G Suite service when used with a domain. In addition, Keep is now available in Google Docs, so employees can easily review and reuse their notes.
G Suite Basic Service
Keep now has the same technical support and service level commitments as any other basic service, such as Gmail or Google Drive.
In the future, domains using Keep will have the following benefits:
- Maintaining content will be handled as specified in your G Suite agreement.
- Keep will be compliant with the terms, conditions, and service levels defined in the G Suite Technical Support Services Guidelines and the G Suite Service Level Agreement.
- It will be added as a monitored service to the G Suite Status Dashboard.
Additional administrative controls.
Additionally, we're giving G Suite administrators greater control over Keep's usage in their organizations, allowing them to turn the app on or off for their domains.
The steps to do this will depend on how you currently use Google Drive. For example:
- If Google Drive is currently enabled for your organization, your users have had access to Keep and will continue to have access to Keep after this release. If you want to disable Keep access, you can now do so from the admin console (Apps > G Suite > Keep).
- If Drive isn't enabled for your organization, your users haven't had access to Keep. If you choose to enable Drive in the future, Keep will be enabled for your organization, whether you've opted to automatically receive new services in the admin console and disabled it for your organization, or if you've chosen to manually enable new services. You can enable or disable the app from the admin console at any time.
When turned on, Keep will respect the sharing settings applied for Google Drive.
View and create Keep notes in Docs.
The improvements to Keep aren't just for administrators. End users can now view and create Keep notes directly in Google Docs on the web. Starting today, simply select "Keep notepad" from the Tools menu to open a sidebar containing your Keep notes (and the option to search them). You can then edit those notes and paste them into your document.
If you're inspired by content already in your document, you can create a new note by highlighting the relevant text, right-clicking, and selecting "Save to Keep Notepad." Or, if you simply want to create a new note with fresh content, you can start typing in the "Take a note..." box in the notepad. All notes you create while in a document will be added to a "related" section in the sidebar. When you view those notes in Keep, they'll include a link to the document where they were created.

Users with legacy Android devices can now access work apps on Google Play.
News: Earlier this year, we announced that your organization's private apps would be moving from the Private Channel to Work Apps on the Google Play Store.
We envision Work apps as a single destination where users can find all the apps they need to be productive on mobile. Using Google Mobile Management, G Suite administrators can offer a customized suite of apps to their employees.
Previously, however, employees with Android devices that did not support work profiles could not see work apps and apps managed by their administrators. This included users with Android devices running version 5.0.ollipop or less.
With this launch, employees with these older devices can now access the Google Play tab (in their personal profile) and apps managed by their administrators.
Please note that on devices that support work profiles, work apps can only be accessed from the Google Play tab of the Work Profile.
